The problem

Which Account Am I Looking At?

If you run more than one Amazon Seller Central account, you've made this mistake: you went to update inventory in one account and accidentally edited the wrong one. Or you nearly responded to a buyer message from the wrong store. Or you spent thirty seconds clicking around just to figure out which account a tab belongs to.

Seller Central's default tab title is just the page name (Manage Inventory or Account Health) with no indication of which account you're in. With three to five Seller Central tabs open at once across multiple accounts, every tab looks identical. The only way to tell them apart is to click each one and look at the account picker dropdown at the top.

This affects multi-account sellers, agencies managing client accounts, and anyone running more than one Amazon storefront.

How it works

An Abbreviation in Every Tab

Tab Title Marker reads the active account name from the Seller Central account switcher and adds an abbreviated version to every tab title. So instead of seeing "Manage Inventory" five times in your tab bar, you see "[WP] Manage Inventory" for one account, "[Tre] Manage Inventory" for another, and so on.

The abbreviation is generated automatically using sensible rules so it stays readable even with long account names. You can also set custom abbreviations per account if you'd prefer something specific.

01

Reads the active store name

The extension reads the store name from your Seller Central account switcher. No page scraping, no analytics, just the one piece of information needed to label the tab.

02

Auto-generates an abbreviation

Multi-word names use first letters (up to 3): "Welch Products" becomes "WP", "Afton Candle Company" becomes "ACC". Single-word names use the first 3 letters: "Treehouse" becomes "Tre".

03

Adds it as a prefix to every tab

The abbreviation is added to the tab title as a prefix so you can see at a glance which account each tab belongs to, even when multiple accounts are open at once.

Configuration tips

Configuration Tips

Tab Title Marker works out of the box, but here are a few configuration options worth knowing.

  1. 1

Custom Abbreviations Need Exact Store Name Matches

The extension's default abbreviation rules cover most cases well. If you want a custom abbreviation, the override system requires the detected store name to match exactly, including capitalization and any trailing words like "LLC".

To find your exact store name, open Seller Central and look at the account switcher dropdown at the top. Whatever displays there (e.g., "Welch Products LLC" or "Treehouse Trade Co") is what you need to type into the override field. If detection picks up "Welch Products LLC" but you wrote "Welch Products" in your override, the override won't apply.

  2. 2

    Format Tokens

The default title format is [{store}] {title} which gives you [WP] Manage Inventory. You can change this to:

    • {store} - {title} for WP - Manage Inventory
    • [{store} {marketplace}] {title} for [WP US] Manage Inventory
    • 🏪 {store} | {title} for 🏪 WP | Manage Inventory

The options page has preset buttons for these common formats. Click any preset to apply it instantly.

  3. 3

It Recovers from SPA Navigation Quirks

Seller Central is a Single Page Application built with Vue.js. The page transitions between pages without doing a full reload, which can confuse extensions that watch for page changes. Tab Title Marker handles three different transition signals (mutation observer on the title element, history API hooks, and a periodic safety check) so the prefix stays applied no matter how SC navigates.

  4. 4

    Console Logs for Diagnostics

If something seems off (the prefix isn't appearing, or the wrong store name is being detected), open Chrome DevTools (F12) on a Seller Central page and filter the console by TabTitleMarker. The extension logs its detection and update events so you can see what's happening.

Common questions

Yes, but the value is highest when you have multiple. With one account, you'd just see your store name on every tab, which is informational but less critical.
The auto-abbreviation handles most names. If yours produces a weird result, just add a custom override with whatever abbreviation you'd prefer.
Yes. It works on Seller Central US, Canada, UK, and Germany. More regions can be added if there's demand.
Not currently supported. The extension is scoped to Seller Central pages only.
No. The extension does minimal DOM observation and only updates the title element, which is a cheap operation.
The default rules can't be changed, but you can override the result for any specific store name in the options page.
The extension only reads the active store name from Seller Central pages. It doesn't send any data anywhere. Read the privacy details for specifics.
